On 29 June 2024, armed clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continued to spread across Sennar state. Clashes were reported in Sinja town of Sinja locality, in the military HQ and in the surrounding neighbourhoods. Field teams reported that approximately 55,440 individuals were displaced from Sinja town and neighbouring villages, as well as from various locations in Abu Hujar and Ad Dali localities, due to increased security concerns. The majority of households from Sinja and Abu Hujar localities (approximately 50,000 individuals) were displaced to Ar Rahad locality, Gedaref, while approximately 5,000 individuals were displaced to locations across Ed Damazine locality, Blue Nile. Approximately 440 individuals were displaced across Aj Jabalain locality, White Nile.
This event follows other recent reports of displacement across Sennar state. Approximately 1,455 individuals fled from Jebel Moya village of Sennar locality, Sennar between 26 and 29 June 2024, reportedly due to the ongoing clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Jebel Moya village. Field teams reported that affected households were displaced to locations across Aj Jabalain locality, White Nile. The situation remains tense and unpredictable.
